Helios e.K. offers you an exclusive range of accurate sundials with modern design. After investing more than twenty years in development, company founder Dr.-Ing. Carlo Heller launched the HELIOS Subsolaris in 2001. With its accuracy and functional variety, this sundial represented the highest evolutionary stage in sundial construction in the world. This was followed in 2004 by the global sundials MONDO and MAGELLAN, cast in stainless steel.
First ever presentation at Ambiente exhibition 2006: ICARUS - a dial in your pocket. The ICARUS is the first portable sundial which can be used all over the world and from which you can read off Central European Time (CET) or the standard time in any other time zone in the world. With amazing accuracy. It will also display summer time, as frequently used in various parts of the world. And more: the integrated global map shows you where in the world the sun is reaching its culmination at this moment in time, that is, where pure noon is taking place. You can observe the apparent movement of the sun from east to west across the earth. The ICARUS can also be used as a compass, since after alignment towards the sun, it points exactly to the south and the gnomon points to the polar star. The ICARUS weighs only 80g, can be folded for transport and carried attached to your belt in a durable Cordura bag. The beautifully designed timepiece is carefully crafted from anodically treated aluminum, brass and stainless steel. The scales and engraving are applied with anodic oxidization treatment and therefore scratch resistant and permanently protected.
